Huawei Mate 10 Lite – A Budget Phone With 4 Cameras

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite debuted in 2017 as a mid-range handset and was touted to be a more affordable version of the higher-end Mate 10 series devices. It’s the smallest of the lot and is priced the lowest in the Mate 10 family. Due to intense competition in the market, probably the only unique feature of the phone is its 18:9 5.9” display that boasts an excellent screen-to-body ratio. Other feature highlights include 4GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and a hybrid SIM. The phone also features dual camera setups on both sides. Let’s explore more of what this budget phone has to offer in our Huawei Mate 10 Lite review here.

Design

The very first thing everyone notices as they hold the Mate 10 Lite is its taller screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The bezel-less display extends to 5.9” and looks amazing. The sides of the phone are slightly curved, while it’s flat at the back. The handset is pretty sleek and comfortable to hold.

The entire front of the Mate 10 Lite is clean and features a dual camera setup at the top. The phone’s back is aluminum, something we don’t often get with most mid-range devices. The dual camera setup is placed in the middle, close to the top end. The fingerprint sensor is placed just below it.

You get a standard button placement on the Mate 10 Lite phones, with the power button going to the right and the volume rocker on the opposite side. The bottom edge of the device is equipped with a single speaker, a microUSB port, and a headphone jack.

Display

The handset boasts a 5.9” display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It’s a taller display compared to what you normally get with the 16:9 screens. When it comes to quality, it’s an LCD screen which means you can’t expect the extraordinary colors common with AMOLED displays. Nevertheless, it’s good enough to give you a reasonable viewing experience.

The display is bright, with around 500 nits of brightness on offer. There aren’t any excessive reflections, and you can easily view the screen outdoors.

Cameras

The handset features four cameras, but you don’t get a quad-camera setup here. Instead, it’s a dual camera at both the front and back. The dual rear shooters are 16mp (f/2.2 aperture) and 2mp depth sensor, while the front cameras are 13mp (f/2.0 aperture) and 2mp depth sensor.

The cameras are competent, and you can expect decent photos when the light is good. But you can’t rate them as the best cameras on the horizon. They have their issues, both in the high and low light conditions. At times, the pictures also look artificially over-sharpened. You can also use your Mate 10 Lite for shooting 1080p videos.

Performance

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite comes with a Kirin 659 chip at its core. The 64-bit octa-core processor features 8x Cortex-A53 cores and is supported by 4GB of RAM for flawless performance. The phone is also equipped with 64GB on-board storage. The phone runs smoothly in day-to-day use. Regardless of the app you run, it seldom lags. Navigating through the UI is seamless too.

Battery Life

The phone is powered by a 3340mAh battery that lasts enough to get you through a day of moderate-to-heavy use.

If you are looking for a decent budget-friendly handset, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite would be a good choice. The phone offers decent features and gives you value for money. Considering buying one? Check out the best deals at Bulk Mobiles UK – a trusted provider across the United Kingdom.
