Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Review – Does 4K Really Make a Difference In A Smartphone?

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has been around for a few years now, and it was the first device to bring 4k resolution to smartphones. However, this wasn’t the only novel feature Z5 had to offer back then. The phone shipped with a snappy processor, 23mp camera, waterproof design, and much more. The design, however, let it all down along with a hefty price tag. Want more details? Let’s explore the device in our Sony Xperia Z5 Premium review.

Design

The Z series smartphones follow Sony’s own design philosophy with only a few small changes introduced with every new model. However, that changed with Z5 Premium as it comes with a clear glass back that was featured in Xperia Z3+. And, similar to the older model, the Z5 Premium also picks up fingerprints. Overall, it’s a larger and heavier phone, and you may find it not-so-comfortable to hold.

The device features aluminum edges that boast a high-gloss texture. Unfortunately, they have more of a plasticky feel and don’t look premium by any means. The corners have been reinforced, however, to better absorb impact if you end up dropping the device from your hand.

Display

The 4K display made big headlines when the Z5 Premium was first introduced. The wonderful 5.5” display offers a 2160x3840px resolution. In addition, the 806ppi pixel density is just massive. Even though the video quality is just amazing, but sometimes you don’t feel it any different from what you get on other high-end devices. In fact, 4k is more for the big LED screens than for a 5.5” smartphone display. Other than that, it’s amazingly bright with excellent viewing angles and gives you a premium experience at the very least.

Camera

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with some of the most amazing shooters out there. The main camera on this device is a whopping 23mp unit and it is quite impressive. There are some additional shooting modes to give you great-looking pictures. The camera also comes equipped with a novel 5x zoom feature along with an impressive autofocus system. The front camera is a 5.1mp shooter, and it gives you images of reasonable quality. Overall, the camera won’t disappoint you.

Performance

The Xperia Z5 Premium comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, accompanied by 3GB of RAM. If you have used the Sony Xperia Z5, you should expect identical performance as it’s the same setup used in that model. Generally, it is a swift and incredibly capable phone. There aren’t any noticeable lags in its performance even when you are on the gaming mode.

Battery Life

The Xperia Z5 Premium is powered by a 3430mAh battery which, unfortunately, is not the best out there for a phone with a 4k screen. You may have to charge your device twice a day to last through. Fortunately, however, Sony has enabled fast charging in Xperia Z5 Premium and that’s a true savior for you.

If you have always been fascinated by 4K displays, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium should be on top of your list. There are some other useful features on offer that make this device a good choice for everyday use. Ready to order? Grab the best deals at Bulk Mobiles today!
