Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Review – Bigger and Better Compared To Older Models

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is a bigger phone than older Note models in every sense of the word. The handset comes with a larger 6.4” screen, huge 1TB storage, and a hefty 4000mAh battery. Samsung did a great job at improving the camera as well while stereo speakers added a whole new spark to the Galaxy Note phones. If you have been using Note phones already, this one is certainly worth an upgrade. Let’s do a thorough Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review.

Design

As you take your new smartphone out of its box, the very first thing you get to notice is the dense feel the device has to offer. Even though it boasts a slimline design, Galaxy Note 9 is not light, hollow, or plasticky at all.

Overall, it does have a pretty similar look and feel as that of the older Galaxy Note 8, and when the devices are put side-by-side with their screens facing up, they look identical. A closer look will reveal that the finger-print sensor, however, has been repositioned just below the camera lenses. The headphone jack and the slot for SIM / microSD cards stay at the top left corner of the device.

The Galaxy Note 9 also features a nice brushed metal exterior frame, merging almost seamlessly with its Gorilla Glass screen and backplate.

Display

Samsung has included almost the same Super AMOLED display in the Note 9 device. The screen is 6.4” which is a slight upgrade from the 6.3” display of Note 8. The device boasts of an almost bezel-less Infinity Display that is punchy and bright. As compared to Note 8, the Note 9 display is 27% brighter with a 32% better contrast ratio.

Cameras

Samsung has made some noticeable improvements to the camera of the Note 9 devices compared to the older models. It includes a 12MP setup with dual-aperture technology. The cameras are also capable of recording Super Slow-Mo videos with great results. The cameras also offer flaw detection and automatic scene optimizer features to ensure better, enhanced photos.

Performance

The Galaxy Note 9 saw an upgrade to the chipset that was used in the older Note 8 and this time you get what’s featured in the high-end S9 and S9 Plus models. Your device would feature either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (if you are in China or the US) or it could be powered by Samsung Exynos 9810 (for all other parts of the world). Fortunately, the chip is fast enough to play 3D games and also to do multi-tasking. Also, keep in mind that the phone comes equipped with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. So, you can expect great performance overall.

Battery Life

The phone features a 4000mAh battery which certainly is a leap that Samsung has finally taken. It could power your phone all day long and you can expect even more with moderate use.
