Nokia Lumia 1520 Review – Nokia’s Big Step Forward With A Feature-Rich Phone

Nokia Lumia 1520 is one of the older devices around today. It was the first effort of the manufacturer to step into the big-smartphone world. The massive device was introduced with some high-end features back then, and it was the very first device from Nokia to use the Snapdragon 800 chip from Qualcomm. There were a lot of other features introduced for the first time by Nokia like a 1080p display, a quad-core CPU, etc. To explore this device further, here’s our Nokia Lumia 1520 review.

Design

Nokia Lumia 1520 is a big phone with a 6” display, but the display is quite manageable at the same time. The designers made some very good ergonomic picks without affecting the looks of this handset. The Lumia 1520 comes with curved edges and there’s Gorilla Glass protection available for the display on either side. Despite the curves, the body is squarish and the bezels are reasonably small. Generally, the device feels pretty slim when you hold it in your hands.

Display

It’s the first-ever Windows Phone that offers a true high-resolution display. It uses a 6” IPS TFT LCD that offers 1920x1080p resolution, while the pixel density stands at 367ppi. Overall, it’s a large, beautiful display that easily beats the screen on older smartphones from the same brand that used 1280x768 AMOLED panels. It’s a vibrant display with amazing color reproduction that makes images look fantastic.

Cameras

If you have had a feel of the 41mp PureView camera that featured in the Nokia Lumia 1020, you’d know what to expect from the camera on Nokia Lumia 1520. This 20mp camera has been scaled down from what was featured in the 1020 device. It also features a dual-LED flash. Even though the camera is not as big and great as the one on Lumia 1020, it still offers some of the tricks from the 1020’s software. There’s also a selfie camera included in Lumia 1520 that is very basic, though. The 1.2mp camera with f/2.4 aperture can do a basic job.

Performance

As for performance, Lumia 1520 comes equipped with a quad-core, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor chip that becomes snappier with its 2GB RAM. That was the best a Windows phone could ever get when the phone was first released. With routine use, the phone did great and there were no hiccups.

Battery Life

The Lumia 1520 comes packed with a 3400mAh battery that does the job nicely. It’s a big phone and so needed a big battery too. So, the manufacturer didn’t hesitate to bring that in. With moderate use, you can expect the battery to last through a day without any issues.

Overall, it’s a good phone, especially, for those who have always preferred to use a Windows phone. The handset had its own merits and demerits, but overall, it can do a fine job. If you want to order one for yourself, grab the best deals at Bulk Mobiles today.
